‘Degrassi: The Next Generation’ Star Dead at age 29

Jahmil French, best known for his role of Dave Turner on “Degrassi: Next Generation’ has passed away at the age of 29.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of a dear friend and client Jahmil French,” stated Gabrielle Kachman, French’s manager. She went on to say “He will be remembered by many for his passion for the arts, his commitment to his craft, and his vibrant personality. I ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”

French had become a very accomplished television actor. After Degrassi, he went on to star in shows such as crime series, “The Divide,” and the new Netflix music-themed drama, “Soundtrack.”

French was also an award-nominated actor. For acting in Degrassi, he earned a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series in 2013. In 2018 he earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Canadian Screen Awards for his role in the movie “Boost.”

There has been no statement yet on how the young actor passed. His family and friends have chosen to keep it private at this time.
